Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has quite the reputation in the footballing world. But even he’s not willing to go as far as Dani Alves did earlier this when describing his former manager’s coaching. Remember, Alves and Pep did spend four years together at Barcelona. In fact, the PSG defender was this close to joining Manchester ahead of last season.
“It was all done to go to Manchester City but it didn’t happen because of a family decision,” Alves told reporters. “Pep knew my intentions. I spoke with him, he knew my intention to work with him and his staff again. He knows the gigantic respect I have for them, which is why I wanted to work with him again until something else came up.”
In the documentary “Take The Ball. Pass The Ball,” exploring Guardiola’s time at Barcelona, Alves would offer up nothing but praise for his former manager. However, he would take it a step further than the normal praise. Though, it wasn’t a step Pep found himself agreeing with.
REPORTER: Dani Alves said "being coached by you is better than sex”…
PEP: I prefer the sex!

For what it’s worth, we’re certain he’s not alone in that thought.
Tomorrow, Manchester United and Manchester City do battle in the Premier. Coming into it, Guardiola’s side leads the league once again. On 29 points, they’re two ahead of both Chelsea and Liverpool. But they’ve been a bit more dominant than both, as their plus-29 goal differential. That’s not to say Chelsea and Liverpool are slacking. After all, the Blues currently hold a plus-19 differential while Liverpool’s stands at plus-16. Additionally, the Reds have only given up five goals so far this campaign.
It’s hard to bet against Guardiola’s City these days. Though, we can never just assume Manchester United will lose. And as for the whole “better than sex” thing?
Well, even the best of us say silly things sometimes.
