It appears as though the ‘mystery team’ for Yu Darvish has been revealed. And, to the surprise of many, it’s the Milwaukee Brewers. Or, so says Ken Rosenthal.
#Brewers have made offer to Darvish. First reported: Yahoo Japan.”
How about that one, folks?
The MLB offseason continues to move slowly. But at some point, as many as six teams had interest in Darvishaaccording to the hurler himself. But the Brewers, despite their payroll flexibility, comes as a bit of a surprised. While they’ve been linked to just about every major SP free agent, this offseason has been a less than eventful one. InkingAJhoulys ChacAn to a two-year deal is the most action they’ve seen.
But Darvish, despite coming off a rough World Series performance, would be one heckuva pitcher to have. The Brewers are already having to deal with the absence of Jimmy Nelson, who is rehabbing his shoulder. Plus, upon returning, there are absolutely no guarantees he resembles who he was before the injury.
However, the Brewers have cash to spend. And Darvish is as good an arm as any to spend it on. With the Pirates tearing everything down, it gives Milwaukeeawho would surprise many with an 86-76 campaign this past seasonamore incentive to put their best efforts into competing this coming year.
The Cubs are still the Cubs, but are not invincible. We don’t know what to expect from the Cardinals. Perhaps now is as good a time as any for the Brewers to strike.
So, does Darvish end up in Milwaukee?
