So… oops, we guess?
As it stands, the Yankees rotation figures to be Severino-Tanaka-Gray-Sabathia-Montgomery in 2018. That’s not too bad on paper. But then again, we don’t know what Sabathia is going to give the Yankees next season. We don’t even know if he can stay healthy.
Cole would have been an excellent additionaeven if it meant parting with top prospect Clint Frazier in the process. But for now, this isn’t happening. And as far as we know, it was never going to happen. However, that doesn’t mean New York isn’t looking for more help.
Earlier in the week, President Randy Levine expressed that they weren’t done yet.
“I know (Brian Cashman’s) upstairs working. He’s not finished. a We’re the Yankees. We always want to get better. a What that is? I’ll leave that to the (front office).”
So there you have it. Last season, New York would miss out on making the World Series by just a single game.
