It’s here! It’s here! It’s here! The 2018 MLB World Series is here. And this series brings us a clash between two historic teams: The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.
If we’re lucky, the series will last seven games — anything is possible between these two powerhouses. This postseason matchup is a unique one, and it’s a series you don’t wanna miss. So, clear your calendars for the next (possibly) week and prepare for some late nights of baseball.
Here’s five things to know before the World Series starts Tuesday night…
1. This is the 1st Meeting Between the Modern-Day Red Sox and Dodgers in the World Series
The last time these teams squared off in the Series? 1916, when Babe Ruth pitched in Game 2. The Great Bambino threw a 14-inning complete game to earn the Red Sox a 2-1 victory over the Brooklyn Robins (who would later be renamed the Dodgers).
The Red Sox would win that World Series 4-1. The games, however, weren’t played at Fenway Park. This will be the first time the teams meet there in the postseason. And while there isn’t much history between them to go off of, this series is sure to leave its mark.
The team’s’ constant success, high payrolls, and storied ballparks/franchises make for the perfect recipe in the Fall Classic.
