Don’t think Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight Floyd Mayweather? Well not so fast, my friend. ‘Money’ is weighing in on the matter. And for what it’s worth — plenty of money, undoubtedly — he thinks it will happen. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, “it’s happening.”
“We’re fighting,” Mayweather said via TMZ Sports. “I’m my own boss. I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end, but on my end we can make it happen.”
That said, is it going to be another boxing match or a mixed martial arts contest? If you ask Mayweather, that’s an easy answer. He’s the draw, remember?
“Who’s the ‘A-side?’ He called me out so you have to come to my world,” Mayweather adds. So there you have it. It’s that simple. Khabib won’t get to wrestle ‘Money’ because Floyd isn’t stupid. He knows what will make the money. That’s why he didn’t face Conor McGregor in a MMA bout. It would’ve been over in seconds. Mayweather is a boxer; that’s how he’s made his living. He’s pretty darn good at it too, being unbeaten and all.
“I seen in an interview, he said when he hit Conor McGregor, he knocked Conor McGregor down. He said I didn’t knock Conor McGregor down. OK, Khabib. You got my leftovers. Whoop-dee-do,” he continues.
So there you have it, fight fans. ‘Money’ wants the fight. And if you don’t think fans will care as much as they did for the McGregor boxing match, Mayweather still believes he’ll make plenty from the fight.
“When I face Khabib, I’m getting a nine-figure payday. Yes, more than the McGregor fight. Probably $100 million more, guaranteed. It could be somewhere upwards of $110 [million] to $200 million guaranteed.”
So, when’s it going to happen? That’s anyone’s guess. As for Khabib, there’s only one thing we can see him gaining from this fight. Money, and plenty of it.
