Last night, Zion Williamson did what he does for the Duke Blue Devils. In 25 minutes of actions, he put up 17 points and 13 rebounds as his side took out previously unbeaten Texas Tech. But he put on this performance at Madison Square Garden, prompting questions about his NBA future. Specifically, whether or not playing for the New York Knicks is something he could see himself doing. After all, Zion projects to be a top-three pick at this point. And as things stand, the Knicks are off to a brutal 9-24 start.
And Williamson’s answers probably did plenty to excite fans of the Knickerbockers.
“Forty-one games at the Garden, I mean, it would probably be incredible,” Zion told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello following the win.
It should be noted that team president Steve Mills was in attendance Thursday night. However, Williamson didn’t stop there with his comments. He knows how special The Garden is.
“This is the Garden,” he continues. “A lot of greats have come through here. My favorite great to come through here was probably Bernard King because my stepdad talked about him a lot how he just put the ball in the basket. … I had to go watch his highlights. He could really score the basketball. He was incredible how he did it.”
And then he left fans with this:
“…Playing 41 games here wouldn’t be so bad.”
There it is.
So what say you, Knicks fans? Are you hoping to land Zion Williamson in next year’s draft?
