Carmelo Anthony is no longer on the Houston Rockets. But as it turns out, the Rockets are still bad. Meanwhile, LeBron James and Melo are the best of friends. And the Los Angeles Lakers are doing pretty well. So, do you see where we’re going with this? Oh, you don’t? Well it’s this simple: LeBron wants Melo on the Lakers, per The Athletic’s Joe Vardon.
“…But James and his camp still believe Anthony can play, that there could be a place for him as a contributor on a Lakers’ team that is young and continues to battle injuries,” Vardon writes.
As things stand, the Rockets are 13th out West. Their offensive has gotten better since exiling Anthony, but their defense is still trash. As for LeBron and his Lakers, they’re riding a four-game winning streak. They’re 15-9 and fifth out West, just two games out of first. And, only one game back of the Golden State Warriors.
Through 24 games, LeBron is averaging 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The king isn’t slowing down, and the Lakers have plenty of young talent as well. But injuries are starting to pile up on them. So, what’s the solution? James believes it could be Melo. Jokes aside, who are we to say otherwise? Up next, the Lakers take on the Spurs in San Antonio.
Will LeBron ultimately get his wish?
