Derrick Rose is a free agent.ATom Thibodeau, his former head coach, is the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. But don’t bank on a reunion at this point. That’s because owner Glen Taylor isn’t thinking about filling a roster slot with Rose.
“If we could find the right person to fit into our team and have some ability to play, get out there on the floor, we are certainly going to look at it.AWe kept one slot open all year long just in case that possibility occurred. But as of today we don’t have anybody in mind.”
So that’s that. The Timberwolves are currently 36-25 on the season, fourth out west and tied with the San Antonio Spurs. But that’s not all. The Timberwolves haven’t made the playoffs since the 2003-04 season. In fact, that’s the last season that would see them finish with a winning record. But Derrick Rose probably doesn’t help this current situation. Moreover, he almost certainly doesn’t help this budding, young team.
On the season, Rose is averaging career lows across the boarda9.8 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds. He has also only suited up 16 times this season. His best days have long passed him by. So if you’re hoping that the T-Wolves jump on the free agent guard, don’t hold your breath.
