Ahead of tonight’s huge Game 3 between the Nets and 76ers — Nets fans don’t seem to be holding back on their trash talk to 76ers star Ben Simmons. In a joke sign, Nets fans attached a ‘missing’ advertisement, citing his poor shooting on a pole near the Barclays Center.
The disrespect has reached a new level…

Since entering the NBA, Simmons has impressed a whole lot for his point guard skills at 6’10”. But, his one big deficiency in his game has been his jump shot. Last season, Simmons was highly scrutinized for his inability to shoot against the Boston Celtics in their second round series. The 76ers were routed by Boston in just five games as a result.
One year later, Simmons has not improved his jump shot at all; leaving NBA fans impatient. In Game 1 of this series, Simmons was shut down scoring just nine points in 32 minutes on the court. In today’s NBA, having a consistent jump shot has become a necessity for up and coming stars. Ben Simmons is one of the most unique players to come in the league. Simmons is 6’10” with a gift to pass the ball and and extremely high basketball IQ. However, he will need to develop a jump shot in order to ascend further in the league.
As for Nets fans, the ascendance back to playoff form has come quick and unexpected. It is refreshing to see a new fan base come with edge to one of the biggest games in the franchise’s history. After the 76ers offensive outburst in Game 2, the series is now knotted up at one. The Nets will have a chance to take a series lead on their home court and potentially extend the lead to 3-1 with more home court advantage in Game 4.
Simmons, 22, averaged 16.9 points 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game during his sophomore campaign.
