The San Francisco 49ers didn’t win on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. But worse than that, they may have lost QB Jimmy Garoppolo for some time.
During the 49ers’ 38-27 loss on Sunday, Garoppolo took off running. And by the time he got to the sideline, his knee went the other way.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are fearing the worst.
The #49ers fear a serious knee injury for QB Jimmy Garoppolo, I’m told. That’s what it appeared, as well, a non-contact knee injury that saw him carted off.

What do you expect, football fans? We can’t have nice things. Too many rules, too many injuries; it’s all going the wrong way right now.
The Niners came into their tough matchup with a 1-1 record; they leave 1-2. After all, playing against Patrick Mahomes right now is like playing with fire. But all of this comes back to Garoppolo. The NFL has already seen countless serious knee injuries this season. Jimmy G. is just the latest.
Coming into Week 3, he’d only completed 55.9% of his passes for 467 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. But the bulk of those struggles, including all three picks, came against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. Sunday he went 20-of-30 (66.7%) for 251 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He did fumble three times, but didn’t lose one.
Let’s hope for the best.
