Kelvin Benjamin isn’t having the best of seasons. After all, the Buffalo Bills just cut him this week. That’s where catching just 23 passes over 12 games will get you. Then again, throwing your MVP quarterback (Cam Newton) under the bus isn’t a good idea either. Needless to say, the 28th overall pick from 2014 hasn’t lived up to his billing.
But it looks like Benjamin is getting a third chance to make a first impression. And with one of the league’s best teams, no less. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs are bringing him in until the end of the season.
One-year deal, taking Benjamin through the end of this season. He will be a free agent again this winter. https://t.co/mNnsjPRYqV

If anybody can get Benjamin out of his slump, it might be quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Through 12 games, Mahomes is pacing the league with 41 touchdowns. He’s also completing 66.9% of his passes while averaging 326.9 yards per game. Add it all up and that’s a league-leading 85.5 QBR with an impressive 118.1 passer rating. And most importantly, Mahomes has thrown a touchdown to nine different targets this season. Even though Benjamin has just one score on the season, we can almost guarantee Mahomes finding him at least once down the stretch.
One week ago today, the Chiefs cut halfback Kareem Hunt. Then they went out and put up 40 points on the Oakland Raiders. This Sunday they take on the 7-5 Baltimore Ravens, who are currently riding a three-game winning streak. Will their new wideout make an impact?
