Electronic Arts have removed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt from Madden NFL 19. This, of course, is due to the domestic violence case against him. The Kansas City Chiefs also cut Hunt last Friday night..
“Gamers who have had Hunt on their Madden rosters will now have him replaced by a generic player with similar statistics,” according to EA Sports.
But that’s not all.
“The updates have fully gone through now so Hunt has been removed from the game and players who were using him for Ultimate Team have their replacement player,” EA spokesperson Brad Hilderbrand told CNN this week via email.
Additionally, Hilderbrand says the generic player will have the same stats as Hunt and won’t impact their Ultimate Team. The last time EA removed a player was in 2014, when Ray Rice was also arrested for domestic violence.
“Ray Rice is probably the closest analog as that incident happened during the season as well,” Hilderbrand adds.
On the field, the Chiefs put up 40 points in their first game without Hunt. Then they brought back old friend Charcandrick West. Up next, they host the red-hot Baltimore Ravens. With Lamar Jackson under center, they’ve won three in a row.
