This makes sense for a couple of reasons, but here’s the biggest one: Danny Amendola is gone. He’s going to the Dolphins. Therefore, the Patriots need a replacement.
And while Nelson is coming off a poor season, we know what the Patriots are capable of. He doesn’t need to be a No. 1 wideout anymore. And in New England, he wouldn’t have to be.
