The best defense in the NFL just got a little bit sturdier. On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings would sign DT Sheldon Richardson to a 1-year contract.

Of course, it makes perfect sense that Richardson is moving on from Seattle. After all, they are clearly in rebuild mode now. And I’m saying that even if Richardson just wants more money. Either way, it’s a smart choice. Again, the Vikings would finish with the top-ranked defense in terms of total yards and points allowed this past season.
Richardson, meanwhile, is coming off a down season by his standards. But that’s not all. While the Seahawks wouldn’t embarrass themselves on defense, they would still finish just outside the top 10 in yards and points allowed. This one-year “prove it” deal is a good way to potentially put up big numbers on a great team.
As for the Vikings, they now their window is the next 3-4 years. And by signing Kirk Cousins earlier in the week, we all know they are not afraid to spend.
