Dez Bryant might not be returning phone calls just yet. But according to the man himself, that’s all about to change next week. That’s right, football fans — Dez is taking visits. And guess who it includes? That’s right, the Cleveland Browns.
“Starting my visits next week…I’m coming to the Land to see you Mr Dorsey.”
We know that Bryant’s production has been down in recent seasons, but that doesn’t mean he’s got nothing left to offer. After all, there’s a non-zero chance he’s been playing hurt — at least a little bit — for a couple of years. Earlier on Thursday, he made it clear that he’s tried to play through the pain before. He realizes now how little that matters.
“…I played with a broken foot before based of emotions trying to satisfy the fans.. that didn’t work out to well for me…so this time I choosing to be 100 % for sure.. I’ll take all the time I need to show who I am… I have a legit 3years left.”
Meanwhile, the Browns are coming off a winless season. The year before that, ‘The Land’ only secured one victory. This offseason, they’ve taken several steps in order to remedy that. They’re not going to win the AFC North. They’re probably not even going to be a playoff team despite how meh the AFC looks. Surely no team can turn around THAT quickly.
But they’re taking steps; there’s some real talent on this roster and a general manager who knows how to build a team. Dez has three Pro Bowls on his resume. He’s an All-Pro coming off a season in which he played all 16 games. Somebody is going to take a flier on him. It might be the Browns, it might not. But Dez Bryant is going to land somewhere.
And all that fun begins next week.
