If you’re hoping for Colin Kaepernick to finally go away, football fans, then I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for you all. That’s simply not going to happen. In fact, it appears as though his collusion case against the NFL continues to gain steam. And on Thursday, while speaking to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Kaep’s lawyer hinted at something big.
“I would stay tuned because this case is about to take a dramatic turn,” says Mark Geragos. But he couldn’t got into too much detail (obviously), saying “somebody has decided they were going to dime out the NFL for what they were doing.”
Does that mean a witness from within the league office is about to come forward? Is this an attempt by Geragos to just simply drum up drama where there is none? We have no idea, but with the way things have gone for the league in recent weeks — as it pertains to Kaep — we should probably take these words seriously.
Meanwhile Eric Reid, a former teammate of Kaepernick, is also going after the NFL. He remains the best safety on the market, but there doesn’t appear to be much interest in him around the league. And when the Cincinnati Bengals brought him in for a workout, Reid was asked about his protesting. Again, this is so totally just a football decision, folks. Nothing to see here. Oh, and Geragos is representing Reid as well.
Anyway, Kaepernick hasn’t seen an NFL field since the 2016 campaign. Remember, quarterbacks like Brett Hundley, Bryce Petty, T.J. Yates and C.J. Beathard got multiple starts last season. On the surface, this doesn’t look particularly great for the NFL.
And we cannot wait to see what comes next.
