The New Orleans Saints are the hottest team in the NFL right now. They might just be the best team in the NFL right now. After all, they took out the formerly unbeaten Los Angeles Rams. Though, the Rams did avenge that loss by topping the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday night. Still, Drew Brees and friends have plenty of work still left to do. That includes taking on the suddenly hot Dallas Cowboys this Thursday.
Dallas comes into Thursday’s game winners of three in a row. Because of that winning streak, they’re 6-5 and now atop the NFC East. But the Saints are 10-1, have a comfortable NFC South lead and have won 10 in a row. That’s right — after losing their opener, they’ve gone on to win their next 10 football games. They’ll seek to make it 11 on Thursday.
However, Dallas pass-rusher Demarcus Lawrence isn’t fearing New Orleans. Even though Drew Brees has only been sacked 10 times this season, Lawrence says the Cowboys aren’t fearing them either.
“I don’t know, (expletive) I got to see first,” Lawrence told The Athletic’s Calvin Watkins about their offensive line. “They ain’t faced us. We don’t know yet, we can talk about it afterwards. I’ll be honest with you too.”
We don’t doubt it.
For what it’s worth, though, Lawrence has no reason to fear any offensive line. Over the past two seasons, he has 23 sacks on his resume. 8.5 of them have come in 11 games this season. So don’t expect him or the rest of the Cowboys to just roll over for the Saints on Thursday. They’re on a three-game winning streak. They’ve got their swagger back.
And they’re not afraid of anybody.
