Thursday in Monaco, the 2018-19 Champions League group draw would take place. And while there are many matches to look forward to, there are some simple ones as well. But enough talking; let’s take a closer look at each group.
- Atlético Madrid
- Borussia Dortmund
- AS Monaco
- Club Brugge
Can Diego Simeone’s side get the job done? Moreover, will Dortmund rebound from last season’s disappointment?
- Tottenham Hotspur
- PSV Eindhoven
- Inter Milan
Inter are a big name but that means nothing right now. Tottenham took their group from Real Madrid and Dortmund last season, but can they top another Spanish giant?
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Red Star Belgrade
Liverpool are coming off a defeat in last season’s final, but this group will be a bit tricky.
- Lokomotiv Moscow
- FC Porto
- FC Schalke
This is an interesting group in the sense that there’s no huge club involved. But, Porto and Schalke should top it.
- Bayern Munich
- AEK Athens
The German champions should finish atop Group E, but will Ajax surprise us?
- Manchester City
- Shakhtar Donetsk
This is just ridiculous for City. Does their spending have no limits?*
*This is an original joke, of course.
But seriously, what a joke.
- Real Madrid
- CSKA Moscow
- Viktoria Plzeň
We don’t know what to expect from Madrid this season, but this group is there’s for the taking.
- Manchester United
- Young Boys
Of course United would draw Juventus in their group. After all, Cristiano Ronaldo plays for Juve now. The Champions League group stage promises plenty of excitement. But, which club has the best chance of raising the UCL title at the end of all this? It all starts with the group stage, of course.
And as we know, there are no guarantees in the Champions League.
