The problems just keep coming for Manchester United. But more particularly, manager José Mourinho. Tuesday afternoon, Derby County took United out of the EFL Cup on penalties. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
He and Paul Pogba aren’t getting along at all, it seems. He’s no longer going to captain the side for as long as Mourinho is there. And, ‘The Special One’ even went so far as to exclude Pogba from his squad on Tuesday. After six Premier League matches, they sit seventh in the table on 10 points. That’s two points outside of the top 5, three points out of the top 4 and eight points off the leaders (Liverpool).
With the talent they have, they should be better. But things just aren’t going well right now, and as it turns out, United players are reportedly angry with him — according to ESPN’s Mark Ogden.
“The United hierarchy are aware of the dispirited mood of many of the club’s players, but there is a belief, and a hope, that Mourinho can turn the situation around.”
As we know, his recent track record in this regard isn’t great. His second stint with Chelsea didn’t end well, even though they got a title out of it. And now things are turning at Old Trafford.
How much time does he have left?
