Tottenham Hotspur were already in trouble entering Tuesday’s UCL matchup against Inter Milan. But Mauro Icardi made sure to double their pain by the time their clash ended.
In the first half at the San Siro, Tottenham didn’t play particularly well. Neither did Inter, but at least chances were falling their way. They just couldn’t finish. And once Christian Eriksen found the back of the net in the second half, Inter didn’t respond. Instead, Tottenham seemed to settle in. However, they couldn’t add on.
Then Icardi did this, and the comeback was on.

Five minutes from stoppage time, Icardi sunk Tottenham’s hopes of claiming all three hopes. Two minutes into stoppage time, Matías Vecino sunk their hopes of even getting a point. Everything started with that wonder strike, though.
And now Spurs have been left to pick up the pieces. Again.
