Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather keeps suggesting that he’s going to face UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a crossover fight. But every time he brings it up, he says it has to be a boxing match. In fact, he told TMZ Sports as much pretty recently.
But UFC President Dana White is having NONE of that.
“The answer is ‘no.’ He’s gonna have to come here and get his ass whoopin’,” White told TMZ Sports on Friday. “We did that last time. You gotta come here this time.”
White didn’t stop there, though. He knows how much money can be made off of a fight like this. After all, just look at what McGregor versus Mayweather brought in. But fair is fair, and White isn’t messing around anymore. Fight No. 1 was a boxing match. If a second crossover fight happens, it has to be under UFC rules.
And that’s pretty fair, generally speaking.
“Every time he wants to box. You wanna fight? Want to make 150 million? Come over here and get your ass whooped,” White added.
For what it’s worth, we don’t think Mayweather is going to jump at that opportunity. He knows how to make money, and he loves doing it. But he’s not an idiot.
We’ll see if he fires back at White over the next couple of days.
